Happy, Healthy, High Performing
At The Hayling College, our ambition is for every young person to be Happy, Healthy and High Performing.
We are proud to be a caring and inclusive community where pupils are known as individuals, feel safe and supported, and are encouraged to achieve their very best. Success at The Hayling College is about more than academic outcomes. We want our pupils to develop the knowledge, confidence, character and values they need to thrive at school and in their future lives.
Our ethos
Happy
We want pupils to enjoy coming to College, feel that they belong and develop positive relationships. We value kindness, friendship, participation and the contribution every pupil makes to our College and wider community.
Healthy
We want pupils to be safe, resilient and able to look after their physical and emotional wellbeing. Through strong pastoral care, safeguarding, SEND and inclusion, personal development and enrichment, we help pupils develop the confidence to seek support when they need it and to make positive choices.
High Performing
We have high expectations for every pupil. Through an ambitious curriculum, high-quality teaching and appropriate support and challenge, we want pupils to make strong progress from their individual starting points and leave us ready for the next stage of education, training or employment.
Our College values
Our ethos is brought to life through the values and behaviours we expect across our community:
- Humility
- Hard Work
- Teamwork
- Kindness
We encourage pupils to work hard, aim high and take pride in their achievements while showing respect for others, contributing positively to their community and understanding the importance of working together.
We believe that high expectations and inclusion go hand in hand. Every pupil should have the opportunity to participate, succeed and feel that they belong, including pupils with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and those who may need additional support at different points in their education.
Together, these principles shape our curriculum, relationships, behaviour, safeguarding and personal development and underpin our commitment to ensuring that every pupil can be Happy, Healthy and High Performing.
