This is our College mantra and what we want for every pupil at The Hayling College.
Your time at College is about much more than lessons and qualifications. It is about discovering what you are good at, developing new interests, building friendships, taking on challenges and preparing yourself for the opportunities that come next.
We want you to work hard, aim high and take pride in your achievements, while being kind, respectful and making a positive contribution to our College community.
Make the most of your time at Hayling
There are lots of opportunities to get involved in College life. You can take part in clubs and activities, sport, music and performance, trips and visits, competitions, careers activities, House events and pupil leadership, including becoming a Prefect or Anti-Bullying Ambassador.
Your Hayling Experience is about making the most of these opportunities, trying something new and building experiences and skills that will stay with you beyond school.
Your learning
We have high expectations because we believe every pupil can make progress and achieve.
Your teachers will help you develop the knowledge and skills you need to succeed. Your part is to attend regularly, arrive ready to learn, work hard, ask questions and make use of the support available to you.
If you find something difficult, asking for help is part of being a successful learner.
Your voice matters
We want pupils to play an active part in making The Hayling College an even better place.
There are opportunities to share your views through pupil voice, the School Council, Prefects, Anti-Bullying Ambassadors and other leadership roles. We want you to contribute ideas, represent others and help shape your College community.
Need some help?
Everyone needs support sometimes.
You can speak to your Tutor, Pupil Progress Lead, a member of the Pastoral or SEND Team, or any trusted adult in College.
You can also use #SpeakUpStaySafe if something is worrying you or you are concerned about somebody else.
Our Prefects and Anti-Bullying Ambassadors can provide peer support and help you find the right person to talk to, and the Library is a safe and welcoming space where pupils can also meet Prefects.
If something doesn't feel right, speak up. You will be listened to.
