The Hayling College
The Hayling College
The Hayling College is a happy, caring and safe place where good working relationships between pupils, staff and parents are at the heart of our successful work. We have very high expectations of ourselves and all our students to flourish and achieve their very best in all that they undertake. All pupils are expected to work very hard, practice and persevere within a supportive and nurturing environment.
Through our mantra: ‘Learning, Growing, Achieving and Celebrating Together' our focus is to ensure that all our students leave us as very well qualified young citizens, fully prepared for their next steps and ambitious to make significant contribution in society. I very much look forward to meeting and working with you.

The Hayling College is smaller than the average-sized secondary school (11-16) and visitors regularly comment about the 'family feel' they experience.
We serve the students who live on Hayling Island as well as some students from surrounding areas. The proportion of students for whom the college receives the pupil premium (additional funding from the government for looked after children, students known to be eligible for free school meals and children of service families) is about the same as the national average. Only a very small number of students come from service families, however. Around a fifth of students are eligible for Year 7 catch-up funding which is for those who did not attain the expected levels in reading and mathematics at the end of primary school. The proportion of disabled students - and those who have special educational needs supported through school action - is just below average. The proportion of those who are supported through school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is only around half that of the national average.
The college is part of a group of secondary schools in the area that work together to extend curriculum opportunities for students. A very small number of Key Stage 4 students attend courses at other schools. The college meets the government’s current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for students’ attainment and progress.
