Your Hayling Experience

Your Hayling Experience begins before you arrive and develops throughout your time at The Hayling College.

Alongside your academic learning, you will have opportunities to Contribute, Create, Explore, Participate and Discover. You will develop your interests, discover new ones, take on responsibility, represent the College, explore future careers and build the confidence and independence you need for your next steps.

Your Hayling Experience will be personal to you. The opportunities below show some of the experiences, milestones and responsibilities available as you progress through the College.

Year 6 - Welcome and Belong

Get to know Hayling. Meet the people who will support you. Start your journey with confidence.

• Attend our Open Events with your family

• Visit Hayling and experience College life, including opportunities such as seeing the School Production

• Meet Hayling pupils and leaders when the Headteacher and Pupil Leaders visit your primary school

• Take part in Transition Day

• Meet your tutors and begin getting to know your tutor group

• Discover the clubs, activities, sport, arts and wider opportunities waiting for you at Hayling

• Begin to understand what it means to be Happy, Healthy and High Performing

• Your aim: Feel confident about joining Hayling and excited about the opportunities ahead.

Year 7 - Belong and Discover

Join in. Try something new. Find where you belong.

Belong, contribute and have your voice heard

• Meet the Tutors – an early opportunity for families to hear how you have settled and the effort you are making

• Parents' Consultation Evening

• One annual report

• Have your voice heard through Pupil Voice, meetings with Pupil Progress Leads and Faculty meetings

• Become a Council Representative for your tutor group

• Become a House Captain

• Become an Anti-Bullying Ambassador or Mental Health Ambassador

• Become an Eco Advocate and help support the College's sustainability plans

• Begin developing the skills that will enable you to support other pupils as you progress through Key Stage 3

• Celebrate achievements together at whole-school End of Term Assemblies

Discover something new

• Take part in enrichment activities and clubs

• Experience Literary Week

• Audition, perform or contribute behind the scenes in the School Production
