Clubs & Enrichment Activities

Find something you enjoy. Try something new. Get involved.

Enrichment is an important part of life at The Hayling College.

Throughout the year, pupils can take part in a wide range of lunchtime and after-school opportunities including sport, performing arts, creative activities, clubs, academic enrichment and additional subject support.

Whether you want to develop an existing talent, discover a new interest, represent the College, meet new people, be creative, stay active or receive some additional academic support, we encourage every pupil to get involved.

Our clubs and activities form one part of The Hayling Experience, our wider Personal Development and enrichment programme through which pupils are encouraged to:

CONTRIBUTE • CREATE • EXPLORE • PARTICIPATE • DISCOVER

The wider Hayling Experience also includes trips and visits, Activities Week, careers, leadership, community participation, sport, arts and other experiences beyond the classroom. This reflects our commitment that personal development should be an entitlement for every pupil.

You don't have to be an experienced sportsperson to participate — come along and get involved.

Creative & Performing Arts

There are many ways to be creative at Hayling.

Across the current programme, opportunities include activities such as:

Drama • Musical Theatre • Technical Theatre • Music • Choir • Guitar • Dance • Art • Creative Writing • Film • Newspaper

Pupils can perform, create, write, design, make music, work backstage or develop skills in journalism and photography.

Some opportunities run throughout the year, while others build towards performances, productions and events.

Create something you are proud of.

Clubs, Interests & Something Different

Not every activity has to be competitive or performance-based.

Our wider programme includes opportunities for pupils to relax, socialise and pursue particular interests.

Board Games Club

Board Games Club is open to pupils who enjoy games, strategy or simply spending time with other people in a friendly environment.

Thursday • 2:50–3:50pm • MFL1

Come with friends or come on your own — everyone is welcome.

Other opportunities across the programme include activities such as Minecraft, Eco Innovators, Debating, Film, Creative Writing and Newspaper Club.

You might discover an interest you didn't know you had.

Year 11 Revision & Academic Support

Enrichment at Hayling sits alongside a strong programme of academic support.

During Year 11, subject departments provide additional opportunities to help pupils consolidate their learning, develop confidence and prepare for GCSE and vocational examinations.

Revision and intervention are an important part of our after-school provision, but they are distinct from our wider enrichment entitlement.

Everyone should have the opportunity to take part

We want enrichment to be accessible and inclusive.

We recognise that pupils can experience different barriers to participation, including confidence, additional needs, transport, cost or simply not knowing which activity might be right for them.

Pupils who would like to participate but are unsure where to start are encouraged to speak to their tutor, Head of Year or the member of staff running the activity.

We also use pupil voice and participation information to help us understand who is taking part, who may be missing out and how we can improve the offer. That is already an explicit commitment in the Hayling Experience strategy.

Get involved

You don't need to be the best.

You don't need to have done it before.

And you don't always need to know whether you'll enjoy something before giving it a go.

Come along. Bring a friend. Try something new.

During your time at Hayling, we want you to discover activities you enjoy, develop your talents and have experiences beyond your normal lessons.
