At The Hayling College we pride ourselves on looking after our staff. Our school’s motto of Happy, Healthy and High Performing applies to the staff as much as it does to the pupils.
Martyn Reah leads the staff to prioritise their wellbeing through the #Teacher5ADay movement (based on the 5 Ways to Wellbeing model) and his mantra of ‘work smarter, not harder’ is embedded throughout the working practices of the school.
Our teachers have a lighter than statutory teaching load, senior team members are on duty every day and where possible staff are not called on to cover the absence of others.
We have worked hard to reduce workload by reducing the amount of data drops and bringing in new software to make admin tasks easier and less time-consuming.
Staff CPD is valued and seen as a vital part of the school’s ability to progress and the pupils to succeed. We use our INSET days wisely to increase effectiveness and welcome high-quality trainers to deliver sessions that develop all our staff.
We also recognise the small, day-to-day things that really make a difference to your wellbeing. Refreshments are always readily available; communication is effective and regularly reviewed and staff appreciate our Golden Ticket system which allow staff to request a day off (half day if less than 0.6fte) paid per year.
The Hayling College is set up to support staff to flourish and thrive and we look forward to you joining our team.
“The Hayling College is committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Criminal Records Bureau checks along with other relevant employment checks.”
