At ‘The Hayling College’ we value good working relationships between staff and pupils. We foster a positive ethos in the classroom and beyond, where recognition, praise and reward are fundamental.
We celebrate pupils accomplishments using our merit system. Merits and Rewards can be awarded for effort, contribution, excellent work, resilience and kindness to name but a few. Pupils will be recognized with exceptional merits, with a Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and even Diamond Awards. These lead to recognition in assembly, and a choice of College rewards which you can see below:
Each week staff recognise pupils who may have gone above and beyond with a piece of work or shown kindness and consideration to others. They will be sent postcards home so that parents/carers can also congratulate their child. Pupils are invited to bring the postcard back into to school to then be given raffle tickets towards the End of Term Ipad award in our traditional End of Term Whole School Assembly.
Pupils may also be nominated as a Gold Star Learner, which involves the pupil being invited to speak directly to the Head about what they’ve done well.
We hope that these systems, excellent home-school liaison and the positive verbal feedback that pupils receive throughout their week, make pupils feel valued so that they aim for the highest possible standards in all aspects of their school life.
