CAMHS have created Parent and Carer handbooks – ‘The Good Mental Health Handbook’ is for parents of children of any age and ‘Know your Stuff’ books are for secondary school parents. The aim of the handbooks is to provide help, support, information, practical tips and advice and signposting to families who may need some help and guidance when it comes to mental health in their homes.

Download ‘The Good Mental Health Handbook’ here.

CAMHS have delivered assembies to students and discussed the 5 ways of well-being. These useful resources will assist both students and parents.

Excellent pastoral care is something we take great pride in. We know our pupils. We know them as individuals. We know that each child is unique with their own talents, skills, worries or insecurities. They must feel safe and happy at school if they are to be successful learners and our staff are passionate about ensuring that safety and happiness.

A trusting and proactive home-school relationship is vital and we aim for open and honest dialogue with parents/carers. If expertise beyond our own is required, we are experienced at signposting parents/carers to the right agency or information to help families move forward.

Each year group has a Pupil Progress Lead who works with the team of tutors to help and support their students.  We also have Behaviour Support Officers,  an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant who works 1:1, or with small groups of students to support them and overcome specific difficulties they are experiencing and an Attendance Officer.  These staff can offer advice and guidance on many issues. They promote good attendance and try to help pupils and families overcome any barriers to attending well. Please feel free to contact them by phoning the school to leave a message for them or by emailing admin@hayling.hants.sch.uk.

MEDICAL

FIRST AID

We have fully qualified members of staff who can administer first aid to children across the College, with a senior member of staff overseeing the first aid care given to our students. If emergency first aid care is given it will be noted on your child’s Arbor record.

MEDICINES

Pupils who are competent will be encouraged to take responsibility for managing their own medicines and procedures.

Children not competent to do so should bring the medication, clearly labelled straight to Michelle Wood at the beginning of the day, with written consent from their parent/guardian. Prescribed medicines must be in their original container as dispensed by the pharmacist. A copy of the ‘Authority to Administer Medicines Form’ can  be obtained from Reception.

If your child suffers from asthma, please provide a spare pump which can be handed into reception and will be safely stored in case of an emergency.

If you have any questions about any aspect of medical care at the College please contact.
